Wardrobe Fire Sale

Created in-house at Dramaten

The Royal Dramatic Theatre’s recurring fire sale consisting of old custom theatre wardrobe pieces has always been a sought after event in recent years. It is considered a great opportunity for theatre aficionados to procure a piece of Swedish theatre history to take home with them as a keepsake, or to hopefully wear.

One of the main insights that the theatre has been working with is that the main wealth comes from the wealth of actor’s employed as well as its vast history. Coupled with a general strategy of “access and excellence” we decided to publish a series of comedic sketches. These video clips consist of a fictitious scenario where a sale coordinator, expertly acted by Andreas T. Olsson, is depicted gathering different key articles of clothing to sell off in the fire sale. Filmed in single takes as the dialogue was mostly unscripted and subject to the improvisational skills of the actors involved, as well as to further heighten the feel of unedited raw theatre as opposed to cinema.
